The Emperor's Tailor De-Camps

The Minister of the Right Hand Thread is assembling his portmanteau while turning over in his massive brain the various amenities of countries lacking extradition.

The Emperor, as exquisitely portrayed in acrylics by Seattle artist William G. Powers, Jr., swings his Louis quinze accoutrement forward, as the royal nut sack slams into the Imperial mid-thigh, and advances into the thoroughly prepped Potemken crowd who cheer on command.

Alas they have no eyes to see his un-clothedness.

And Digby elegantly explains why we were deceived:
One of the things that the TNR article I excerpted above points out is that Rove couldn't have been too happy with the outcome in 2000. The Republicans had had to run in 2000 as "compassionate" conservatives to set themselves apart from what everyone knew to be the hideous face of Newt Gingrich and Rush Limbaugh's GOP.
But does not explain why Messrs. Limbaugh and Gingrich remain so seductive.

Hans Anderson seemed to say that the moral of the Emperor's New Clothes was to be skeptical.

Is it not just as likely that the moral was to keep your mouth shut and your skepticism to yourself?

Too many think so.

Quandary # 73128

Perhaps the cause of our conviction that others envy us is that we are unsure that what we do is enviable.

Or should that be "?" ?

Didact's Koan

If the student learns, may the teacher take credit for teaching?

If all students learn just as much at the same time, then the teacher taught.

If only some students learn, while other's fail, then the student did the learning.

This is a very hard notion for young teachers to accept.

Words to Ponder Over Coffee

Before morning coffee fully awakened Diana she laid an aphorism or two on the Kidtm and I.

"'Tips' spelled backwards is 'spit'"

"Who ever figured out that 'desserts' spelled backwards is 'stressed' was brilliant."

Bon mots.
Fun with words.
